In addition to the certification of participants in the Product Certification Schemes operated by Food Certification International Ltd., and our role as a certification body for the GlobalGAP Integrated Aquaculture Standards and British Retail Consortium Global Food Standards, FCI can also provide additional third party inspection services to a range of other aquaculture and food related quality and production Standards:
1. Organic Food Federation organic salmonid and gadoid standards
3. Soil Association organic farmed fish and shellfish stahdards
The development of a one stop shop approach
Producers in the aquaculture sector very often find themselves for whole variety of reasons being required to be approved to a number of Quality and Production Standards.
The result is that producers find themselves managing a significant audit and inspection requirement. In many cases a number of different inspection and certification bodies require access to farms and processing facilities, tying up company staff for a significant number of days during the year.
It is our policy to develop and provide the most efficient and cost effective inspection service available to the aquaculture sector both within Scotland and internationally.
By working with FCI you will be able to access a 'one stop shop' approach to inspection and certification provision. Through a number of strategic alliances and agreements FCI is now in a position to be able to provide additional inspection services for a number of additional production and quality standards available to the aquaculture sector.
The ability to carry out inspections on behalf of other standard setting organisations will allow the you, the producer or processor, to receive
a tailored inspection service from FCI accessing all major Standards applicable to aquaculture production.
This will enable where relevant inspection to more than one standard to be carried out during a scheduled inspection thereby cutting down on the staff time you have spend managing inspection staff on site.
Where applicable FCI will try to ensure recognition of equivalence between different Standards thereby also reducing the requirement for additional inspection visits.
